Updates

October 4

Gran Saman ran a very strong second chasing the favorite then fighting hard but getting edged by the eventual winner. Breaking from the 3 post Gran Saman stalked the pace, chased inside on the turn, rallied in the two-path in the stretch drive, dug in gamely late, and got second.

We spoke with trainer Steve Klesaris after the race. Steve said, “That was a very good effort. He chased a solid pace and still had something left to dig in. It’s nice to have him back.”

We also spoke with Hibiscus Stables CEO Mike Oliveto after the race. Mike said, “Steve called and wanted to claim Saman back. He did very well for us during his previous stint. He’s picking up where he left off. This was a nice check in his first start back for us.”

Gran Saman earned $5,600 for Sunday’s 2nd place finish.

Steve will see how Gran Saman comes out of the race and we’ll point him accordingly.
