Started With Stars, despite a slow break, rallied to win on Tuesday, drawing away posting her second win at Finger Lakes. Started With Stars broke slow, was in the three-path into the turn, four wide out of it, responded, rallied to take lead late and was going away.
We spoke with trainer Jeff Englehart after the race and Jeff said, “She’s been training very well. I liked her in this spot and I was confident that we’d get a strong effort. She’s only a 3-year-old and I think this filly has a lot of upside.”
We also spoke with Hibiscus Stables CEO Mike Oliveto after the race. Mike said, “We bred this filly. When it was time to race her we stayed in for 50% but she was being mismanaged by our partner. We had no choice but to buy out that partner and get this filly in the right hands at the right venue and she’s rewarded us handsomely. Since we took contro, she’s had 2 wins, 1 second, and 1 third in 5 starts. That’s income for the racing partners and the breeding partners in terms of breeder awards. She’s a very nice horse and we see a lot of good things in the future.”
Started With Stars earned $13,680 for Tuesday’s win.
We’ll see how Started With Stars comes out of the race and Jeff will point her accordingly, most likely to an Allowance N3L at Finger Lakes..
