September 24
Gleaming Brutality, confidently ridden by Hector Diaz, broke her maiden professionally at The Meadowlands on Saturday. Gleaming Brutality was a bit reluctant to load, dueled inside for the lead, dueled in the turn, battled back in upper stretch, edged clear at the sixteenth marker and was hand ridden late.
We spoke with trainer Steve Klesaris after the race and Steve said, “She looked very good winning tonight. She’s a nice filly and can compete when she’s at the correct level.”
We also spoke with Hibiscus Stables CEO Mike Oliveto after the race. Mike said, “There’s no substitute for class relief. We put her in the right spot and she responded. This was a very fun race to watch and very exciting for the partners.”
Gleaming Brutality earned $9,900 for Saturday’s win.
We’ll see how Gleaming Brutality comes out of the race and Steve will point her accordingly.
