SainthoodForBrian won like a true professional breaking his maiden in impressive fashion at Delaware Park on Saturday. SainthoodForBrian stalked the leaders on the outside up the backstretch, navigated the turn from the three-path, began a bid approaching the quarter pole, gained ground on the outside and edged clear late.
We spoke with trainer Steve Klesaris after the race and Steve said, “He looked really good today. He breezed in 9.4 on the synthetic when we bought him at OBS. Today was big but I can’t wait to see him on the synthetic at Gulfstream.”
We also spoke with Hibiscus Stables CEO Mike Oliveto after the race. Mike said, “He looked like an absolute monster today. He was very wide in the turn and had a lot of work to do in the lane. He picked them up and laid them down with huge strides and won by open lengths. It was a thing of beauty. What a great race for the partners.”
SainthoodForBrian earned $25,200 for Saturday’s win.
We’ll see how SainthoodForBrian comes out of the race and Steve will point him accordingly.
