She’s Awesome posted her second consecutive second place finish setting the pace but getting run down by the 2-5 favorite at Delaware Park on Friday. She finished 12 lengths ahead of the next horse. She’s Awesome, had perfect front running trip along the inside, was the leader leaving the three-eighths pole, took outside pressure leaving the quarter pole, and fought on through the wire.
We spoke with trainer Steve Klesaris after the race and Steve said, “She’s finally rounding into her own. She ran into a monster this afternoon otherwise she would have won by a pole. She’s a very nice filly.”
We also spoke with Hibiscus Stables CEO Mike Oliveto after the race. Mike said, “The winner of this race is an extremely talented horse. In fact, she’s a $300,000 yearling purchase. Our filly really impressed today. It was hugely exciting for the partners. Our filly earned $9400 and $8400 in her last two races and she’s still a maiden.”
She’s Awesome earned $8,400 for Friday’s second place finish.
We’ll see how She’s Awesome comes out of the race and Steve will point her accordingly.
