Somers, New York-based company teams with Greg Gilchrist to purchase Thoroughbreds to run in New York and California

Somers, NY, October 8, 2012 – Hibiscus Stables has announced an agreement with Greg Gilchrist to provide bloodstock advisory services for its acquisitions which it will then race on leading circuits such as NYRA and Southern California.

In the midst of a successful 2012 season where Hibiscus Stables partnerships are experiencing a nearly 26% win and 57% in-the-money percentage, Hibiscus Stables will enhance its bloodstock advisory team by adding legendary horseman Greg Gilchrist. Gilchrist, a former California-based trainer, campaigned notable Eclipse Award winning Champion Lost in the Fog, along with other graded stakes winners such as Smokey Stover, Indayanne, and many others. Over his career Greg won more than 140 stakes races. More recently as a buyer Greg purchased Eclipse Award finalist Turbulent Descent.

Hibiscus Stables CEO Mike Oliveto said, “We’ve got some aggressive plans for 2013 and enhancing the quality of our 2-year-old program is one of them. With the record purses now available in New York and the associated world class quality of racing both there and in California Hibiscus Stables intends to continue to be a presence on both circuits. We couldn’t be more pleased to have Greg as part of the team. It’s crucial that we enter relationships with individuals that believe in our program and, like Rick Violette and Steve Klesaris, Greg is very enthusiastic about what we’re doing.” Gilchrist began by attending the yearling sales this summer.

Since 2006 Hibiscus Stables has successfully offered partnerships in New York and California. Oliveto credits a unique approach to partnerships, which includes a strong focus on the partners themselves and open communication on strategy, news, and a constant stream of information sharing. Partners are kept up to date on all facets of the business through newsletters, phone calls, and meetings which creates a true “partner” experience for all owners.

Hibiscus Stables is currently assembling members for new partnerships for the 2013 season. The horses acquired for these partnerships are yearlings and will be raced on the New York circuit including Aqueduct, Belmont, and Saratoga and the California circuit including Santa Anita, Hollywood Park and Del Mar.
